Hello all,

I'm not a computer pro here; I stumbled upon this website because I need to know something about the time that was displayed when I received an email. First off I'll start by saying that I have a yahoo account. If you receive an email from someone in another time zone, like say Japan "fourteen hours ahead of our time!" Then is the email I received reflecting the actual time it was sent from Japan or the actual time it was received here in the U.S.? Also, what does the -500 mean in the time below? This is the actual time that I received the email.

09:07:01 -500

Thanks any help!

Thanks,

One more question, I visited aol and they said that a mx.aol.com server is in mexico. The person who is suppose to be in japan emailed me from a mx.aol.com server. The last question is, currently you live in florida, you signed up for aol and were given a username with one of aol's server's in mexico, you then take a trip to japan and sign into aol anywhere, will your user name say that you are sending from your U.S.A/mexico server or will it say that you are sending from a jp.aol.com server which is japan?

Really do appreciate any replies to last question!

David
