I run a BIND 9 DNS server and am having some problems with the way it responds to host inquiries. Anytime I enter anyhost.domainname.com the server responds with my home page (I am also hosting a web server on the same server). How can I stop this from happening so that the DNS server only responds with valid hosts defined in zone file?
Any help would be great. Thanks.

When you say I enter 'site' where are you entering it?
To crawl your DNS, I use this very useful site here: http://www.dollardns.net/cgi-bin/dnscrawler/index.pl

No. Actually I've discovered that this is really an httpd.conf issue (not DNS as I was lead to believe.) What I mean by this is that if my root domain is "mydomain.com" and I have a couple of virtual hosts configured (say one for my web site so the host would be 'www' and one for mail (mail.mydomain.com) and someone comes along and tries something bizarre like sammy.mydomain.com)), it still takes them back to my default page, the home page. I would like to know how I can get it to give them an error when it encounters a host it doesn't recognize.
Thanks.
