Hello,
I am building a web server/site for a friend as a favor, and I need some opinions on hardware and bandwidth. I have never really had to determine the size of the server or bandwidth so I am lost. It is a subscription based site for some some of his clients. The pages or not graphic intensive although some or in php with minor database calls, and some or medium sized documents. The database will be on the same server. As of now it is planned to be an Apache webserver, with MySql running on linux or BSD. I would like to get him some hardware that has some room to grow but is not overkill. Is there some estimates of hardware and bandwidth requirements based of of average request per day or some unit time.
