If a site has a PR10 and it links to you, you might get a PR 8.

If there are 2 identical sites on google, with the same domain, just one is .org and the other is .net (you can choose another extention, it doesnt matter) and one has a PR 7 and another one has a PR 8, the one with the PR8 comes first. That is why people buy PR, so they get higher listings on google.

Google PR is important but note that you must not pay a lot of attention on this issue. There are other search engines that could bring you a lot of visitors.
