We are planning to use windows 2003 server and MySQL database. The site receives uploads of music audio/video files and will display for play on the website. We need to store the vid/aud file separately from the data received.
approx 500 music vids at max (35/45mb files).
Q1 What best server spec for a site like this, can't get info on it anywhere!

I know that this is a little late, but you may still want to know so here goes anyways.
From my experience. I would go with either a P4 or a Celeron about 2.8GHz. 1GB RAM should be sufficient, depending on the amount of traffic that you get at once. 2GB just in case, if you plan on having a large number of users, but I would stick with 1GB. It seems that the amount of information that you will have on the server isnt that much so 80GB HDD should work fine, but you may want to up it if you think that your numbers will increase. you can partition off some of the drive for your OS and still have enough space for your data. In my opinion anything more than this is overkill. I can work out a quote for you if you want, just let me know.
